COACHING

Peninsula College -- Head Men's Basketball Coach (2018 -

Following his second year as an assistant coach for the Pirates, Coach Donald Rollman took over as head coach when Mitch Freeman accepted a head coaching position at Corban University on June 6. “I am very excited to have the chance to lead this program,” Rollman said. “The opportunity to lead, coach, and help these young men succeed is one that I am very grateful for and to be able to do it at a place like Peninsula College and Port Angeles is special. My two years as an assistant here with Coach Freeman have been an unbelievable time of learning and growing that I will always keep with me and for that I am thankful. I can’t wait to get start this new adventure as head coach at Peninsula College. Go Pirates!” Since joining the Pirate staff in the fall of 2016, the PC men placed second in the competitive North Region two straight years and then went all the way to the NWAC championship game, falling in overtime in March of 2016. "Coach Rollman's basketball IQ, his relationship-building skills, his connections at the four-year level, his knowledge of strength training and conditioning, and his professionalism and character made promoting him to interim head coach an easy decision," said Rick Ross, Associate Dean for Athletics and Student Life. Prior to coming to Peninsula, Rollman served as assistant men’s basketball coach and strength and conditioning coach at Olympic College in Bremerton, where he helped develop and move athletes on to all levels of college basketball. He also served as Bainbridge Roots AAU coach for sixth and ninth grade AAU boys teams for three years, and a spring high school player development and tournamnent coach for Bainbridge High School. Rollman earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Sciene from Central Washington University and a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Concordia University. He also earned an AA Degree from Olympic College, where he played soccer for two years, including matches against Peninsula. The Bremerton native was a three-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, baseball) at Bremerton High School. In addition to his coaching assignment at Peninsula, Rollman will coordinate fund-raising efforts for athletic scholarships and continue his work with basketball camps and clinics to develop young talent in our community.
