It has been a highly competitive week for the Bremerton Knights.

First, on Tuesday, had a decisive 75-42 victory over Bainbridge, the team that had defeated them back in December. On Thursday, they were the ones who were decisively defeated by Annie Wright of Tacoma, the defending Class 1A state champ, 63-42.

The Knights capped the week with an 83-39 blowout win over Olympic in the Trojans’ gym on Friday night, though it took a little bit to get them going. Bremerton started out of sorts but held it together for a 18-15 lead after one quarter,

They blew the game open in the second quarter, as Jalen Davis scored 12 of his game high 23 points in the period. The Knights opened up the quarter with a 18-0 run, aided by a slew of Olympic turnovers, to put the game out of reach.

“We wanted to work on our execution, so we tried a couple of new things tonight,” said Bremerton coach Miah Davis. “We got to play around to see where were going to be at in the post season. A lot goes into every game, every opportunity, and on the court.”

Frank Allen

Frank Allen added 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, as he disrupted the Trojans on defense, causing a turnover all over the court.

“It was most about execution, getting back from the loss,” Allen said after the game. “We came out a little tired, but it was mostly about executing and getting our shots to fall.

Davis said of Allen, “When they do good, I give them a pat on the back, tell them they can do better. Tomorrow’s a new day, so we go to practice and try to get better.”

Dallin Anderson scored six points for a spark off the bench in the first quarter, and Junior Davis-McWhorter scored nine points in the first half to aid the Knights’ run.

Bremerton continued the onslaught in the third quarter, as Davis and Allen each scored eight points, and each had a jam on the Trojans’ basket. The Knights ended the quarter with a 75-35 lead, leading to a running mercy clock the rest of the game.

Defensively, Bremerton forced Olympic into 28 turnovers, and held them to 39 percent field goal (15 of 39) shooting.

Bremerton (11-1 league, 13-4 overall) concludes their season next week with their final home game on Tuesday against Port Angeles, and the season finale at Sequim on Thursday.

But after the week they had, they’re going to rest up a little.
