High School Report: Knights hold on for win over PA

Jan. 13--The Bremerton Knights shot out to an early lead, held off a comeback attempt by the Port Angeles Roughriders, and finally pulled away for a 59-45 Olympic League win at Les Eathorne Gym at Bremerton High Monday night.

 

Bremerton led 34-16 at halftime, but the 'Riders cut into the lead and got to within 47-40 late in the third quarter before the Knights went ahead for good.

 

Diontae Madison led the Knights with 19 points, while Japrea Pedesclaux had 16 points. Bremerton improved to 3-1 in league play, and 5-5 overall, going into Tuesday's game with North Kitsap.

 

Noah McGoff led Port Angeles with 18 points. PA fell to 3-2 in league and 7-6 overall, and plays at Kingston Tuesday.

Kingston (5-6, 2-2) left Belfair with a win in the closest game of the night, 60-59, over North Mason (4-8, 0-5). ... North Kitsap (11-2, 5-0) remained perfect in league play with a 62-42 win over Sequim (4-8, 1-5) thanks to the 18 points from Cole Rabedeaux. Josh Benson chipped in 12 points for NK. ... Olympic (7-6, 3-2) handed Klahowya (1-12, 0-1) a 62-21 loss. ... Port Angeles' girls held on for a close win over Bremerton 33-26 in an Olympic League 2A game. The game was tied at 17 at halftime but the Roughriders (11-1 overall) were able to convert when needed to remain unbeaten in league play at 5-0. Nizhoni Wheeler led PA with 14 points while Elysabeth Lamoureux led Bremerton (5-6, 2-3) with 11 points. ... North Kitsap (6-6, 3-2) handed Sequim (4-7, 1-5) a 50-31 loss while Olympic beat 1A Klahowya 58-36.
